Paul E. Muxlow, Brown City, June 15, 1938 - February 23, 2024

Paul was the youngest of 8 children and was raised on the family dairy farm. He was a 1956 graduate of Brown City High School where he lettered in Football, Baseball, and Track.

Following graduation, Paul studied RETS (radio-electronics-television) in Detroit working nights as an Orderly in the OR for the Old Grace Hospital to pay for school. He took a job at Boeing in Seattle, Washington.

Paul then served 6 years in the Air National Guard stationed at the Detroit Air National Guard Base. While working at a technology firm in Ann Arbor, he earned a teaching degree from Eastern Michigan University.

It was during this time he was asked to give Elizabeth Torkelson, who worked for Delta Airlines, a ride home to Brown City. That young lady would eventually become his wife on June 13, 1964. They were 4 months from celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.

He accepted a teaching position at Ferndale High School creating its first electronics lab. Paul was soon after recruited away by Henry Ford Community College, teaching Electronics for 7 years.

Realizing the need, Paul began helping his students write resumes and created co-op partnerships with local companies like Ford Motor and Kodak. He turned his back office into a job placement office for his students.

HFCC eventually turned that makeshift Job Placement center into a formal division staffed by two people.

Along the way, Paul earned his Master's degree in Education from U of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and a Counseling degree from Siena Heights University.

Feeling the push to return home to raise his young family, Paul and Liz bought the family homestead and raised the family in Brown City.

He accepted a position at the Lapeer Vo-Tech Center and spent 20 years as vocational technology counselor and coordinator of student services.

They also opened Muxlow's Drug Store in downtown Brown City before Paul recruited Pharmacists town.

In the 80's Paul got his real estate license and quickly found success twice earning the Top Salesman of the Year in the United States.

In 2010, Paul won a seat in the State Legislature, serving 6 years before becoming term limited. During that time he was widely recognized for his common sense leadership and an unwavering advocate for public education and agriculture.

Paul and Liz spend their time on all-things grandkids, never missing an event or activity all of whom were/are college athletes.
